I'm Glenda from Georgia. i received your book as a gift. I love it. My daughter got me all the equipment for christmas. My grandson who is 2 1/2 loves the book. We read it all the time.He loves all the old pictures and about Joseph Barron. wants me to say all the names of the flours. I want to bake with him some day. But I'm having a hard time. I'm using kamut flour. I was using Bob's red mill flour but switched to Montana kamut flour. I'm going on week 6 and have no bubbles. Have made pancakes and waffles which turned out well. Thrown some out some batter. I use filtered water. I've read over and over. It smells good. Looks good. I started stirring it a little more to add more oxygen. I keep it in the cupboard. House temp about 73 to 74. Any ideas?

It sounds like you're doing all the right things. Are there any bubbles at all? If your mother smells sour, there should be bubbles, even if they're small.

Thanks.there are usually 2 bubbles. today was day 7. i made more waffles. but decided to see if i could get one loaf to rise. I figured out i was doing the days wrong. i wasn't counting the first day so was relly trying to bake on the 8th day. So that may have made a difference. We'll see.

ive given up.No bubbles going on week eight. So dissappointing!!!!!! Followed everything exactly. couldn't figure out what to change. Expensive to ship flour from Montana to Georgia. Guess I'll try another method

It seems strange that you don't have any bubbles after 8 weeks of trying. Did your mother ever develop a sour smell?

So you're using Kamut flour, right Tammy? Are you grinding it yourself? Please share your "make and model" of flour and the kind of water you're using.
