Summer vacation is well underway for my girls, and they are happy as clams. Adria spotted a little creature down by the garden. At first glance, she thought it was a snake because it moves so fast it looks like it's slithering. She called me over to take a look, and expecting to see a little garter snake, I was surprised to see a tiny lizard with an electric-blue tail. As near as I can tell, it's a Western Skink. We've seen little newts and salamanders around, but I've never seen one of these little guys:
How neat for her to find it. Years ago a wee lizard came home with me in a plant and lived in my kitchen window for a short time then I put it outside. Haven't seen a lizard in awhile but a toad lives under my Yellow Rose Cottage and turtles come and go.
Lord put your arms around my shoulders and your hand over my mouth.
I can't say that I've seen a turtle in years. We get plenty of toads and tree frogs. One morning, we woke to find a tiny tree frog hanging out in our kitchen. My guess is that it figured out haw to use the dog door.
They are some of the best times. I love watching my girls romp and explore outside. Brian and I installed a climbing rope on one of our big trees as an end of the school year gift, and they have been bouncing between that and their tree swing non-stop. They come up will all sorts of imaginary games to play in different spots and are always so excited to share the things they are working on and doing with us.
