So I normally let my mother sit in the proofer at 73 degrees F instead of on the counter. A few times here lately I have been making double batches of Bread. I put one bowl on the counter and one on the proofer. The one in the proofer was a double batch I made 2 French loaves with her. The mother on the counter was what I used to make my Skillet bread. Anyways I have noticed when my mother sits on the counter the bubbles are larger and different sizes, then the one in the proofer makes the little uniform bubbles. When I feed it for the 2-3 hour rise the bubbles look pretty much the same either way.

I don’t have 2 glasslock bowls so I had to find the biggest one we had for my counter mother, and instead of a marinex dish I used a glass pie pan.

| This is pretty cool. You can see that the mother in the proofer did a lot more overnight--it looks like there's more happening below the surface of the proofer mother one than the counter mother one before the morning feeding. |

| I hate to say it, but I decided not to invest in a proofer...not yet anyway. My husband, Shane, came up with an incredible idea. He purchased a reptile aquarium heater for a fraction of the cost of a proofer. I set the temp to 73 and, voila, it works ! I just place the mother on it, cover it and let it do it's thing. So, for all those frugal folks out there, I can strongly recommend this for proofing. |
